In the Limelight's Production Division is dedicated to offering non-musical or straight plays during the school year and straight plays and musicals in the summer, that feature characters
played by young people. Our philosophy is simple -there are so many gifted, dedicated, and developing young actors in the Central Florida region, we want to give them meaningful opportunities to do what they do best - ACT. Theatres with kid-friendly productions across the US offer well-known musicals. In many cases, large groups of children and teens are the singing and dancing chorus and the best singers and dancers normally get the leads. Instead of spending a theater season in a musical with lots of big production numbers and a few lines, we believe young actors that are serious about acting as a craft should spend a theater season acting in a play, playing substantial dramatic or comedic roles, with more than one or two lines! We are experts in dramatic and comedic acting for children and teens. If your child prefers musical theatre, we offer a full musical theater program during our summer stage program in June/July/August!

Leapin' Lizards! The popular comic strip heroine takes centerstage in one of the world's best-loved musicals. "Annie" is a spunky Depression-era orphan determined to find her parents, who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of a New York City Orphanage run by the cruel, embittered Miss Hannigan. In adventure after fun-filled adventure, Annie foils Miss Hannigan's evil machinations, befriends President Franklin Delano Roosevelt and finds a new family and home in billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary Grace Farrell and a lovable mutt named Sandy.

Kim Selody's enchanting adaptation of J. R. R. Tolkien's The Hobbit. The Hobbit tells the story of Bilbo Baggins, a simple hobbit, whose life takes an exciting turn when he is summoned to voyage by the wizard Gandalf. Bilbo, reluctant at first, acknowledges his call to duty and joins a band of dwarves, under the leadership of Thorin Oakenshield, on a quest to reclaim stolen treasure from the feared dragon Smaug. Their grand adventure starts far off to the East, beyond the Misty Mountains, to dungeons deep and caverns old. Along the way Bilbo and crew encounter a series of obstacles involving goblins, spiders, trolls, elves, and the not-so-clever creature Gollum. Forced to think and act quickly, Bilbo outsmarts many of his opponents (including Smaug), displays his bravery, proves himself essential to the quest, and unites the citizens of Middle Earth as they prepare to battle greedy goblins.
BUGSY MALONE - Performances August 20, 21 at 7:00 pm plus a 1:00 matinee on Saturday August 21 at Orlando Shakespeare Theater's Goldman Stage, 812 East Rollins Street, Orlando. All seats at $10.00. The pie-flinging, pinstripe-wearing, pint-sized classic has finally made it to the musical stage in this adaptation of the hit film that catapulted a young Jodie Foster to stardom!
A cast of youngsters play Prohibition-era mobsters in this tongue-in-cheek tribute to the 1920s gangster flick. It seems Fat Sam, who runs one of the most popular speakeasies in town, is in danger of being closed down by his "business rival" Dandy Dan. Enter baby-faced Bugsy Malone (Scott Baio in the film), a killer with the ladies and a definite asset to Fat Sam. Unfortunately, Bugsy has also caught the eye of Sam's girlfriend Tallulah (Jodie Foster in the film)-though he's set his designs on the showgirl Blousey Brown.
