In the Limelight Class Division focuses on making your child a better actor – it is that simple.  Classes are absolutely necessary for any young actor interested in improving, learning and growing as an actor. Being involved in a production provides a certain level of training, but overall it is not enough. Over the years, we have seen so many young people continue to audition for productions but become frustrated when they are not cast in roles they desire.  As a parent, you wonder, “What was the missing element?” or "Why did they get a walk on role? I know they are a great actor. I have attended theater camps and classes. What is the problem?"   9 times out of 10 it is either, they were not prepared for the audition, or they were not right for the part. Although there is little you can do to make your child physically right for the part,  you can make sure they present well in auditions and are prepared to portray a wide range of characters by enrolling them in specialized classes that train them to be a better actor. Specialized classes are absolutely necessary to supplement their production participation.

There are acting programs in Central Florida that offer creative drama and put on plays. In the Limelight is different - we offer so much more.  As a parent, you want to see marked improvement in your child's skill level and ability - and a return on your investment.  It is not only about having fun, but also learning new skills, honing your talent, and learning a disciplined approach to performing.  We expect our young actors to deliver 100%. Our students "have a blast" – but they also work hard and learn valuable techniques and skills that translate into greater success in life.  They appreciate the discipline and are often amazed by how much they have learned and how much fun they are having. All of our class offerings are limited in number or private and each coaching session is customized to meet your child’s individualized performing needs.

In the Limelight offers acting classes for all ages; beginners, intermediate, or advanced actors. Our beginner and intermediate class are for actors who are interested in learning more about acting and want to be more confident on stage and in front of the camera. We cover all of the theater basics and focus on skills development.  Our advanced classes are for
actors who have had roles on stage, are confident in front of the camera and on-stage and are serious about improving their acting craft.  See below for class descriptions to decide which one is best for you!

In the Limelight offers
small group (limited to 4-6 per class) master classes in Sensory/Stanislavski Method Acting for young people ages 9-18. This legendary technique is used by the greatest actors in the world. In the Limelight's Sensory/
Stanislavski Method Acting
curriculum is youth-friendly and centers around acting within the five senses, focusing on realism. They learn to tackle a character fully, learning to live the experiences of a character as if it were his/her own. We also focus on how to properly prepare for tackling any given role. In return, young actors present more genuine and realistic performances. It is a well known fact that casting directors are looking for actors trained in this method and these types of classes are few and far between in Central Florida. This class is recommended for actors that have solid stage and/or on-camera experience.
Sensory/Stanislavski Method Acting classes are 1-hour and 15 minutes in length. All classes are made by appointment and grouped according to age and availability. All students must go through the prior Technique before advancing to the next level. A short description of the Techniques are as follows:

INTRODUCTION TO STANISLAVSKI Technique I – 8 Weeks: Instruction in the fundamental principles of Stanislavski’s Method using exercises designed to familiarize the student with a truthful and natural acting experience, with introductions to Objective, Problem, and Action.

STANISLAVSKI: THE NEXT STEP Technique II – 12 Weeks: Extensive instruction in Objective, Problem, and Action with application to specific roles from assigned materials, as well as deeper instruction in the method, including Concentration, Communion and Emotional Memory.

STANISLAVSKI IN ACTION Scene Study – 12 Weeks: A course for those who have completed Technique I and Technique II. Students are assigned scenes from classic and contemporary plays to be rehearsed, reviewed and directed.

From a very practical standpoint, this class will make you/your child a better actor. Our curriculum is a highly structured, three part program, totaling 32 classes.  In most cases this method is taught to adults, but this curriculum is written specifically for young actors that are very serious about acting and are ready to work. In addition to the Stanislavski technique outlined above, we will also study the ten commandments of theater, as well as how to use the Sensory/Stanislavski Technique to prepare for an audition. He or she will learn how to effectively tackle a role to be the very best performer on-stage.

On the first day of class, each student will receive a 3-ring binder to serve as their SENSORY/
STANISLAVSKI METHOD binder. Throughout the classes they will receive tip sheets, review materials and important resources to keep all they have learned organized and at their fingertips.  Please bring the binder to every class. A formal presentation will be at the end of the 32 weeks.  Parent and actor will receive ongoing progress reports.
